What is the difference between the courses for Professionals and the courses for STEM Experts?
The courses for STEM Experts include additional material relating to communicating science, technology, engineering, math and other technical subjects. They feature an extra video, include an E-book download called “Making the LINC: Communicating STEM,” and offer the chance for participants to be interviewed for inclusion in our podcast. Our podcast, Own the Science, is about STEM in Canada and is available on all major podcast platforms. Being interviewed on the podcast is optional but provides a low-risk, low-stress opportunity to practice your new skills as a guest on an established podcast.
What is the difference between the courses with “live practice” versus those without (“self-practice”)?
The live practice courses include a coaching session with a former reporter or media spokesperson. They conduct practice interviews and provide immediate feedback on strengths and areas of improvement. The self-practice courses (those without live practice) instead offer instruction on how to practice independently with the support of practice questions.

As all our courses are delivered via an easy-to-use online platform, you can get started as soon as you have enrolled and flex your training around your schedule. You can also purchase courses for singular participants using a credit card.

How are your e-learning courses delivered?
Our e-learning courses are designed to be engaging and effective, so put aside any thoughts of previous experiences you’ve had with outdated, slow and boring training sites. We use a mix of self-led learning exercises, short videos, and resources — with the option to add on live practice sessions with our experienced trainers — to deliver your training.
I find being recorded in front of colleagues stressful. Is there another way for me to approach this training?
There are many merits to live practice. However, our Self-Directed with Self-Practice course offers guidance on how to conduct practice interviews independently.
